Dear all

If oil change is due around the time of a planned long drive up north (a few days), should i get it done before or after the trip? If it makes a difference, my car mileage is only 6000+km now. Thanks.

However, if u hv just serviced yr car recently or been service regularly with the agent.I think u can drive in peace.Next, if u car is consider a new car, iis fine .Otherwise, go to workshop to hv a check before u drive up ,cheers!!!thumbsup.gif

Check tyre pressure before hittin the highway, alot of pple Pump Full Tank, Pump Tyre, buy minerial water etc & off they hit the highway. Have a pleasant journey.

I would advise if you can help it after 10,000km then go for long haul trip.

when was ur last oil change? 1,000km? or 5000km?

Thanks. last oil change 1,000km to synthetic. oil filter change and agent check just this week, i.e. 6000km. Trip not so soon, i think car mileage wld be nearer 8,000km by then.

For me, i will get the servicing done before the trip [:)] At the same time, can get the servicing centre to check for other parts to ensure that everything is alright [;)]

sounds logical. yup, think i'll do that.

Hi,

I was in the same situation as you a month ago. Was going for a road trip up north and based on my calculation, my 10K servicing will be due while I am still on thr trip. Same thoughts came in my mind.

Anyway, my final decision was to change them after the trip. Anyway, the oil will not break down immediately once hitting the distance, sure can have some level of tolerance. So exceeded the 10K and right after coming back, change to fresh oil. Get rid of all the dirt collected from the drive up north. Cleared all the carbon up north and get fresh oil. Everything still good for me now.

Car is still new, don't really think there is much to inspect. Even you send in for servicing, it will still be those routine interval servicing. Top-up of fluid, ticking the check boxes on their checklist, etc. Just make sure tires are filled up.

Hope this helps...

modern synthetics can easily last 15k. i won't waste $ if i were u. besides, the engine is actually less stressed in hwy cruising mode.

[:p] I was on mineral oil then...don't really bother with the specs. It just came with it at the 5K free servicing.

It should be fine...

What I would do is before trip near 8000km change oil and inspect.

But depends on individual, some would say no need. after trip then service.

No worry lah, drive till the serving mileage then change, don't waste money. Anyway, many cars in other country travel our 'long haul' daily, it is just that we are not used to it.
