Torque Damper on firewall

It helps sharpen the throttle respond...but at the expense of shake rattle and roll....

Unless heading for track...more of a feel good mod rather than a performance mod.

I used to have it on my Civic...all I can say is...GOOD AH !! But everytime the VTEC engages, you also can feel it. Wife hates the harshness though.

I do know of a friend who distributes such dampers for industrial machines uses. But its similar to those used in cars, or rather exactly the same. Saw a few hondas having same damper in their ride before. I customised one for my ownself. Costed me $80+ (sing dollar) to customise the bracket and 1 hour+ in the workshop. You really can feel the torque increase in pickup. More solid pull feeling.

It dampen the vibration and put more torque onto the wheels rather than energy lost due to shaking of the engine. Similar to uses in industrial, dampen vibration and put more torque in those mixer machines.

But I think this thing is not cheap now. Due to high US currency now. Mine costed me $150 that time when US is low, now US super high, should be abt $170-180 I think. He buy in in bulk, so cheaper compared to you buy one or two pieces from car workshop, $220 I saw before in a famous shop in Ubi.

Good project to do, compared to those no brainer plug and play item. Such customisation job bring more satisfaction. Haha...

Not any damper. Depends on length. But the one I got is length adjustable, so that can customise onto my car.

If you buy any car's damper, it will be a headache if not long enough or too long.

This kind of damper is very hard, inside is a kind of plastic or rubber that your hand push or pull also cannot move type. But once onto the engine bay, you can see it move a bit. You can imagine the power of the engine shaking.

Yes. Bracket can customise one. At most 2 hours job at most shop. Need welding tools though the workshop you select.

Torque damper is useful if you tend to pull your engine, and if your engine generates a good amount of torque. Best to try out a car first as you may not get used to the vibrations when idling.

It's effects can be felt when driving - more crisp response as the engine does not move as much when revving. At the dyno, I can see the engine block remaining relatively still whereas in the past, the pulls past VTEC will cause the engine to lurch.

actually i would like to ask , how effective is this engine torque damper ?

i mean sorry for noob question.cos i've heard from 2 type of users , one with those harder engine mountings

and anotther with these torque dampers.and both type of users aim at 1 common result.

better and more direct transfer of engine torque to the wheels.so actually which is better and more efficient.

lets say i am not concern about the vibration/sound/bla bla .i am currently using the cusco engine mountings

and they are very very stiff.can really feel the engine movement even on idling..so installing such dampers ,

does it

1) improve the vibration ?

2) retains the "more" direct transfer of torque that my cusco engine mountings offer?
