Why do we have an intake resonator?

Before everyone starts taking out those Resonator box, read this links first. Its there for some reason and not just for sound. Its for performance too, taking it out will affect your low end. Just FYI:

If the pleneum on the car is large enough, it doesnt matter as that will hold the air till the engine needs it.

Usually no, and if you're a hardcore modder, then definately no (but then the resonator would be too small too in the 2nd case).

my assumption for modders... Proper HS+CAI+Open Pod, u won't lose out much on low torque. It's how u lauch ur car from the start-line that makes the different.

no factory performace cars have that issue. I'm surprised that the soarer had it. I'm guessing that it was the 3 litre v6.
