Nightchaser Neutral Newbie January 15, 2003 Share January 15, 2003 damn...my friends didnt call me as it happened late in the night... my friends ordered one each...they werent greedy or what.... just hoping to get it for a cheap price. Anyway, think the news didnt really spread very far this time round..... if it was me, I would forgo the legal recourse. Why? The printer has a selling price of 3000++, if Digiland is going to fulfill their orders, they would need close to $12mil. You think it is possible? even if they give out a discount voucher for each order they would still lose something close to a mil? And they arent exactly like SingTel which needs to protect its market interests and has loads of $$$
Nightchaser Neutral Newbie January 15, 2003 Share January 15, 2003 P.S. my friends were also there when DELL made the boogey.... think it was a discount if you buy certain models. of course none took it up
David Clutched January 15, 2003 Share January 15, 2003 I remembered some years back I recieved a overseas call from Philipines assurring me that I am not at all charged for the call, proposing to sell me a certain stock sure to make money( a tidy sum). Of course I assumed that I will have to part away with a premium first. I hang up the phone. Now coming back to this printer, I would also loved to have one, at this $$$. But what would be the probability? A big fat Zero. This is not the first time, neither would it be the last. Both sides would have to have some responsibilty. But on hindsight, could this have been staged? Why? If both the seller and buyer are not going to win, then who will? Sure! go to court to fight. Geewhiz Neutral Newbie January 15, 2003 Share January 15, 2003 The lawyers win, of course! I wonder who was responsible for those price updates, some third party e-commerce shop?
Acemundo Supercharged January 15, 2003 Author Share January 15, 2003 I guess it is humanly greed to try their luck on an incredibly good offer even though at the back of their mind they would have known it is almost impossible to realise such a good deal. I guess if it were me, I might have still tried to place an order in case the company in question wants to honour their mistakes But I find some of these people so ridiculous as to want to seek legal redress. In the first place, they are not cheated of anything or have suffered any loss. So why are they so adamant to punish a company that has make a honest mistake? I find the moral values of these people questionable. Putting oneself in the company's shoe. What will the company do in such an instance. Pushed to the brink they might honour the deal. But what's going to happen to the person who makes this mistake? He will probably lose his job. We all make mistakes in our job. Do anyone of us want to be fired for some typo error in our job? Granted it is a mistake that has far fetching consequences. But to cash in on other's misery is deplorable. And this is not an isolated occurence as similar incidents happen many times. Jman888 Moderator January 15, 2003 Share January 15, 2003 this is an obvious greed that some try to profit from the mistake made. If i were to find such deal, i would try my luck for ordering 1 unit, but to order 180 and get friend to join total to 2000 units, these pple are as good as robbers . Panda Neutral Newbie January 15, 2003 Share January 15, 2003 Agree. They had an agenda to profit from it. How could a 3000+ laser printer cost $66 in a stand alone purchase? Perhaps they learnt from past cases of Dell and Singtel, their intent would clearly be pre-meditated to extort the poor vendor... Robbers!!! ↡ Advertisement
