Ex_vagrant Neutral Newbie August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 Hi Fellow MCFers, Recently just bought the Steam Cleaner for household use. Under the instructions, it can also be used for car rims. I thought of using it to clean my rims to get rid of some stubborn stain and dust. Just wondering if the high temparature (100 Celsius) would be damaging to the tyres and suspension systems? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks. ↡ Advertisement

Ex_vagrant Neutral Newbie August 22, 2005 Author Share August 22, 2005 My MSCP there have power points... . Just didn't want to ruin my tyres and all that lies beneath the rims with high temperature usage without knowing... Thanks.
Genie47 1st Gear August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 Should be OK. Don't use the brush option. Just blast with the high pressure nozzle.
Ex_vagrant Neutral Newbie August 22, 2005 Author Share August 22, 2005 Thanks for your swift reply. Will try one of these days. U got yourself a steam cleaner too? Pretty useful right?
Magfocus 5th Gear August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 I think the heat generated by the brakes and the engine should be worse than the steam used..
Kklim Supercharged August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 Which did you buy? The big $300 one or the smaller $88 model? Been considering getting one myself. Thanks.
Ex_vagrant Neutral Newbie August 22, 2005 Author Share August 22, 2005 Got the smaller one. More handy and price-friendly. Hehe. Those floor dirt and bathroom tile stains came off almost immediately. And it kiils germs too. Now got more value as can be used for car rims and cleaning car seats... Btw, I'm not a Steam Cleaner salesman...hehe... Kklim Supercharged August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 Should be able to use it for cleaning radiator and brake discs too. Which brand did you get? Tried cleaning aircon yet?
Genie47 1st Gear August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 Mine is pretty old. Karcher.
Ex_vagrant Neutral Newbie August 22, 2005 Author Share August 22, 2005 I think the brand is called Roman. Aircon cleaning is next on my list. Looks like there is lotsa "To-Do Items" with the Steam Cleaner...If only I had the time...
Toalson 1st Gear August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 Try using some wax, it will help to remove the brake dust and it will also help to make ur rims shiny and easier for next wash. I'm using the EO WAUD everytime I wash my rims. Its easy and great.
Ex_vagrant Neutral Newbie August 22, 2005 Author Share August 22, 2005 Ok. I tried claybar with some detergent before and was quite useful in removing the stains and dust...but lotsa hard work... Will try out your idea. Steam-cleaned followed by waxing sounds great. Thanks!
Roro77 Neutral Newbie August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 Bro, wat brand? can PM me the brand and where you bought it?
Contax 1st Gear August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 The brand is call "Roman" ? My mum bought one and now I'm testing it for her. Honestly , eventhough it emit a 180c(according to the manual) of steam , I find it hard to remove those stain in the bathroom. What I do is to use the 'brass' brush to remove those stubborn stain in between the gap. It's helluva hard work man.I rather use those coconut brush - much faster and easier.
Ex_vagrant Neutral Newbie August 22, 2005 Author Share August 22, 2005 Yup. Same here too. Not 100% but the hot steam loosens the trapped dirt making it easier to clean/brush off. For me, I use an old toothbush after the steam has done its work.... Cleaning is always hard work man....hehe....I almost couldn't getup after I finish my bathroom.... Toalson 1st Gear August 23, 2005 Share August 23, 2005 Since you guys r toking abt removal of stains in bathroom or whatever, should try the mould cleaner from "Duck" very effective I must rate tis product. I would consider tis 2nd to Lysol (think they discontinue the disinfectant ) Cos its very caustic to hands. I'm a happy user of Duck mould cleaner. Spray and then brush lightly and viola
