Gothviruz Neutral Newbie August 25, 2005 Share August 25, 2005 If change bearing roughly how much? I used to have this kinda sound when turning. Went to Tan Chong, they said it's the bearing and would cost me hundreds cos have to change one pair!.. so i went to a recommended freelance mechanic, he managed to get a recond part for me, no need buy one pair somemore. Cost me only 80 bucks + labour. Been driving for 1 year with it now..no prob!

Trd123 Neutral Newbie August 25, 2005 Author Share August 25, 2005 Hi.. I also think its the CV joint goner liao.. better to replace it. If it is not CV joint, then can let us know what could be the cause of the knocking sound and how to solve it so that if next time our cars encounter such problem, we can roughly know wat causes it. Thanks. I think mine is the cv joint problem..but if never change...what will happen?? the damage?
Fortress Clutched August 25, 2005 Share August 25, 2005 It will just irritate you whenever you turn. However, if you are the type that drive your car hard, there is a good chance of having the assembly comes out of it. It is actually a S$20 fix that deteriorated into this. It always started with the rubber casing tearing and most driver here do not check, dirt/sand go into the CV joint and foul it up. Prevention is better than cure like we always say. Cooliechang Clutched August 29, 2005 Share August 29, 2005 Hi.. If i remember correctly, if cv joint got problem, and in serious case, when u turn or negotiating a bend, the car may just be locked in that angle and you cannot steer it back straight. Hopefully someone can provide you with a definite answer. anyway its best to check it n replace if necessary. dun wanna risk ur life man..
7seater Clutched August 29, 2005 Share August 29, 2005 There is a knocking sound coming out whenever I make a U-turn. What is the problem? Any expert can comment? CV & drive shaft comes as a set to change. Better do it faster. It will breakdown suddenly with your wheel stuck in the mudguard. This could happen anytime. Falc 3rd Gear August 31, 2005 Share August 31, 2005 Does it come in a set? Coz for mine, the stockist sell outer CV joint alone, and outer is always the one going bad.

Trd123 Neutral Newbie September 15, 2005 Author Share September 15, 2005 So if making U-turn there is knocking sound, does it means the left side cv joint is spoilt and not the right hand cv joint that is spoilt!

Falc 3rd Gear September 16, 2005 Share September 16, 2005 May not be. Mine go straight also got sound then. Maybe a surer way is to check the boot that covered the joint, if torn then sure gone case already. ↡ Advertisement
