Viscosity Index Improver. Helps the oil to maintain cold temperature pumpability. Compare 15W40 and 10W30, they have more or less the same amount of VII. Explains why they are favored by the oil enthusiastic drivers. In the US, 10W30 and 15W40 enjoy economies of scale. Mostly sold cheaply.

10W30 usually priced cheaper. But if both the same price get the 10W30. There are no winters here.

Difference between 5W and 10W is that 5W cranks easier in the cold but even at normal tropical conditions like this, the 5W will still crank up easier. Other than that, both will become 30wt at operating temperature.

An engine only cares whether the oil is at the correct level so that the oil pump can start pumping and effect lubrication. That is all it cares about. Country, brand, dollars spent doesn't matter to it. Must at least have oil and it will be happy to move.

checked mobil site, 10w30 has A5/B5 rating, where as 5w30 doesn't, what does A5/B5 stands for? long drain?

SL formulation 5W30 has ACEA A1/A5 rating

 

SM formulation does not have A5 rating.
