Roguehog 1st Gear August 5, 2005 Share August 5, 2005 Quote using drum brakes on 1.7 tons monster...........better practise your braking skills. not only that. check out the size of the front rotors. furthermore, it's a 4wd, albeit not full time and has manual override, drums for the rear???!?!!! it's a joke for a car this size. the tires and rims look too puny for this ride. imho, looks too much like a hilux pick up. yup i know share the same platform. ↡ Advertisement
Cagelee Clutched August 8, 2005 Share August 8, 2005 i read in another forum where a SE from BM posted and he mentioned that they have more than 250 orders for the Fortuner in the first few months of its launch. it would be interesting to see in the resale market whether these people are selling off their fortuner , given it heavy petrol consumption and road taxes
Ldawn88 2nd Gear August 8, 2005 Share August 8, 2005 Tested drived. the comfort cannot be choosy abt... the handling is good... suspension is good. Quote Went to Toyota showroom last week and saw the new fortuner 2.7. the price is low for a 2.7 litre car. have any comments on this car?
Intx Neutral Newbie March 29, 2007 Share March 29, 2007 Bought one. Suspension was as stiff as my A4 with H&R springs and dead Shocks. But changed the shocks to Bilstein Heavy duty and took care of the problem! Performance wise, so so drove to 160kmh on the highways here. Interior looked a bit cheap but its not bad for the price! Was planning to buy a RX300 but thinking abt the rugged terrain here so I bought this car.

Bad review from my friend, a second hand car dealer. There are better alternatives out there with the same price tag range
Toyo 1st Gear April 1, 2007 Share April 1, 2007 it is basically a truck as the platform is shared with toyota hilux.
Bieffe 2nd Gear April 1, 2007 Share April 1, 2007 Not so good. Too big. If u just want "Mine is BIGGER than urs" then this is good otherwise is just not such a good car. Well for Sillypore than it. Spacious? Cannot be lah. The back 3rd row offer little advantage. And the 3rd row folds side way. Cannot really free trunk space. Heavy there for underpower. 2.7 is minimum Otherwise it will never come to Sillypore. Inside the quality is so so. Drum brakes is another cost cutting measure. And a shared plateform is another. If u have older folks or kid...getting in and out of the car may need a stood. Otherwise it will be like jumping down from a HDB flat! Not to mention road tax and FC. But the "Mine BIGGER than urs" feeling maybe quite priceless.
Redboy 1st Gear April 1, 2007 Share April 1, 2007 IMHO, many would go for santa fe. Nicer looks, similar FC, better power.
Toyo 1st Gear April 1, 2007 Share April 1, 2007 yup, the 3rd row folds sideways. big may not be good as our parking lots here generally are quite narrow. it will make parking a big headache
Toyo 1st Gear April 1, 2007 Share April 1, 2007 Yup, i too agreed the santa fe is a better choice
Curahee 1st Gear April 1, 2007 Share April 1, 2007 "But the "Mine BIGGER than urs" feeling maybe quite priceless." Whats the point man??!! A BMW, Merc, Lexus, Audi enuf to make this car look "small"
Dunno Neutral Newbie April 1, 2007 Share April 1, 2007 His point is...cheap and big. There are many big or bigger cars but not as cheap.
Redboy 1st Gear April 1, 2007 Share April 1, 2007 yup. I think the point is physical size of vehicle, not brand of car. Large SUVs like fortuner, santa fe will have huge road presence. Also will not be 'bullied' on the roads so easily. ↡ Advertisement
