Unichip M'sia & S'pore?

Thinking of getting the Unichip. Spoke to G Motor in S'pore, he quoted me $800 and found from Visworks' website only RM$1299 (approx.S$575).

Any MCF bros can advise why the difference is so significant and which tuner is better?

Unichip comes in various versions for use on different types of engine and each has a different price tag. Go check out whether the RM1299 chip suits your car and whether it includes dyno-tuning. G Motor is offering what I believe a package price of $800 which includes dyno-tuning. Ask yourself this question, do u want to or are you able to get across the causeway should your ride give u problems after the installation?

G Motor is just a reseller. Visworks is the distributor for Singapore and Malaysia.

i believe G does the dyno at Autotronic. Yes, G is a reseller. Had mine done at V for RM$1899, car stalled many times over the next 6 mths until i got fed-up. G rectified it. I'm a happy man now.

Did some reading from S'pore Honda forum, it gives me the impression that are more supporter of Visworks.

The different is due to dyno tuning. RM$1299 is only for the chip, another RM$450 - RM$500 for dyno tune. As for G-motor, $800 does not comes with dyno tune, only butt tune, but they give an offer during the AISA Dream Car show, S$800 comes with Dyno tune. Check with Max.

 

As for me, I prefer Viswork.

Any particular tuner to recommend from Visworks? I understand from the Honda Forum that the good tuner 'Ah Chew' has left the company.

I had mine done at G-Motor. In turn of tuning, Viswork is definitely very much better than G-Motor. But dun forget one thing. Whenever you do some mod to your car, you have to send it back for tuning again. And there might be some problems with the tuning, so you will have to send it back again. So, are you prepared to go all the work to JB for re-tuning whenever you have problem with your cars???

I fully agree on the point on the trouble of going into JB.

 

From your expereince, it is very often you'll encounter problem that requires retuning, other than additional mods?

How is Viswork better??? Hmmm... Faster??? Ha... At G-Motor, Max is very slow in tuning. It can take the whole day to get things done, whereby at Viswork, it can take only half a day. My car is not being tuned by Viswork. I have friends whose rides are being tuned there. So far no problem.

Visworks spends half a day on your car only if they've done it before. If not, they'll give you a money back guarantee, and spend the time to R&D the tuning on your car 1st.

 

I don't know G-Motor that well, but given the country scale and experience levels, I'd trust Visworks to have better tuning skills than most local workshops. Our local shops aren't known to be very extensive in R&D, with the exception of a few places.

 

Oh, and they some how manage to get their satria gti to run 11.5 sec quarter mile drag.

i had better gains during my 2nd tuning at Visworks than at SG... Anthony tune mine in less than an hr.

Just to share, I have clarified the pricing with G and V, price including Dyno-tuning is S$950 and RM1899 respectively.

Then by gg to V, u saved alot. The remainder can even hav your eng oil change after the dyno.

Did my Unichip yesterday at G-Motor after thorough considering, for the relatively small saving and since there seems to have a very diverse opinion on the skill of the tuner (some say V is better, some say G is better). So do in S'pore loh, as it is easier to get 'future support'.

 

Dyno Results :

 

Improvement in Torque: 33.2Nm (16%), BHP: 18PS (13%).

 

Car now very responsive, very Satisfied.
