Having slept at 3am and getting up at 5.30am for my 7.10am flight in the morning, I arrived in Kuala Lumpur feeling stoned. After queueing at customs for nearly an hour, I made my way to Dataran Merdeka where Formula Drift Malaysia is being held this year.

The pre-event press conference on Friday started at about 10.30am where some of the drivers were present to answer questions from the media and also share their thoughts on the upcoming weekend.

After that there were photo taking opportunities where the drivers were made to hold up alphabets spelling out F-O-R-M-U-L-A D-R-I-F-T.

Out of the international 40-driver participant list, there was one name ready to fly the Singapore flag high at Formula Drift Malaysia 2010 - Ivan Lim of Team Goodyear Spark Motorsports.

Unfortunately, his car is still stuck in Thailand due to customs issues (which caused him to miss Formula Drift Thailand as well) so he cannot take part. He is here though, to help team-mates Charles Ng and Ryuji Miki with their cars.

There are no other Singaporeans on the competitors' list.

Formula Drift USA co-founder Ryan Sage then took some of the media for a track walk where he explained the clipping points. The track this time is a first of its kind for Formula Drift Asia, with all three clipping points as rear clipping points.

Finally, I did two driver interviews - with Charles Ng and Daigo Saito - before calling it a day.

Charles is a cool guy from Hong Kong, who competes in circuit racing as well. Currently based in the United States, he finished his Masters in Economics and was working in investment banking before he quit to race full-time this year. He completed the full season of Formula Drift USA this year and finished second-best rookie.

As for Daigo Saito.. who doesn't know him? He's the 2008 D1GP champion! Gold-dyed hair with matching gold-dyed eyebrows, he's a strong and silent man of few words but with a style so unique that it speaks for himself without having to use his mouth.

He cannot speak the English language, so his best buddy Robb helped with the translation. I was curious to know what his favourite food is - guess? He likes pasta and Indian curry. Since he has been here in Malaysia, he has been eating Indian curry for breakfast every day!

I got his autograph!

It's his first time in Malaysia and his first time at a Formula Drift event. I can't wait to see him drift!

This should be the true Singaporean national dish

Singapore is known to be a melting pot of different cultures, races, people and of course, cuisines from all over the world. You can probably find food from most places here in Singapore, but we also have some dishes that we like to think of as our national dish - okay, google says there isn't an officially declared national dish, but Chicken Rice is one of those that's often mentioned. Yes, we all love Chicken Rice, but it isn't really unique to Singapore.... Nasi Lem
