Volkswagen AG has just issued a recall of nearly 380,000 cars due to the potential for fuel leaks which could lead to a fire.

According to The Detroit News, A total of 266,936 Jetta, Jetta SportWagen, Golf and Rabbit models from the 2007 to 2009 model years are affected,. In addition, 110,350 new Beetle models (both hardtop and convertible) are also at risk. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued an official recall bulletin:

"The Jetta, Jetta SportWagen, Golf and Rabbit vehicles may have a small plastic tab located on the windshield washer fluid reservoir that may chafe against an underhood fuel supply line. The New Beetle and the New Beetle Convertible vehicles may have a fastening clamp on a hydraulic hose of the power steering system that may be located in an improper position which could cause chafing against an underhood fuel supply line."

In both instances, chafing could result in a fuel leak, which in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire.

NHTSA states that dealerships will either remove the plastic tab from the windshield washer fluid reservoir. In the case of the New Beetles, the position of the fastening clamp will be inspected. Both services will be free of charge to the owners.

I have a strong feeling that the Jettas all over the world will be affected since the location of the plastic tab and fuel supply line should be universal. I hope I am wrong though as I do not wish to have my life endangered.

This is quite an intriguing topic. I hope that this recall was just in time before anyone would have an accident because of this faulty plastic tab in the washer reservoir. With this recall, the engineers of Volkswagen should double their effort and time in checking all the parts before releasing the cars again to ensure the safety of their consumers and avoid any crucial accident. They should also take this recall as a lesson for the Volkswagen engineers in order to avoid repeating the same mistake again in the construction of their cars.

  • Godzilla Minus One: Surprisingly emotional and poignant

When one thinks of Godzilla movies, one imagines an oversized amphibious dinosaur generating a terrifying heat ray from its mouth and fighting with other oversized monsters. Meh, nothing special, right? Wrong. Here’s why Godzilla Minus One should be an action movie you should definitely catch. In this version, the timeless clash between monster and man is once again set against the tumultuous backdrop of post-war Japan. But, unlike typical action films that dive headfirst into destruction a

Are forums outdated? I try to find out by asking AI

Is your boss asking you to explore and learn how to use AI to improve the quality and efficiency of your work? Yup, you aren't the only one in that boat.  Whilst exploring new AI tools, I figured: Why not use it to answer some burning questions that I have? This time, it was about whether forums are outdated. Yes, forums like this one that we are on. I remember how before social media became popular, and before apps like Carousell existed, forums were where I chatted with others t

Why oolong tea could be the superior drink of choice at lunch

Coffee - without sugar! - has long been (and still is) my go-to option to accompany my lunch. Amidst a larger 2025 goal of reducing the number of cups of kopi-o kosong I gulp down a week, however, I’ve recently thought about how my lunch experience can be switched up slightly with yet another sugarless drink: A can, or indeed bottle of oolong tea. Oolong tea is said to offer a perfect balance of flavour and functionality - perfect not just for complementing one's meal but also reinvigo

    Curry does not exist?

Curry. When many of us think of Indian food, we naturally think of curry.  Except, well, 'curry' isn't actually a thing. Not the word, and not even technically the food that we think of.  Many of us probably think of curry as some sort of dish that has a gravy or sauce. But that is in fact a generalisation of a wide variety of Indian dishes, and also a decidedly Western invention intrinsically tied to India's Colonial past. 'Curry' as a word doesn't actually exist in the languages spok
