How do you feel when you see VW rims on Skoda?

Parked along side the St. Regis, or Hilton Hotel, there's always something that catches the eyes. Whether its a Rolls Royce or a Ferrari, pedestrians can't help it but stop and stare. Well those are the authentic cars, but since the rest of the world allows its people to build their own kit cars, I can't see why not here on this island with too many Toyotas, Hondas, Hyundais, Kias and Nissans.
The car in the photo above is a Honda Attack, and its a kit car with the chassis from a Civic or an Accord. What kit cars are essentially are just like a sheep in wolves clothing, they look 'fierce', stunning, or even gorgeous like an Aston Martin DB9, but underneath the hood, its just an engine from anywhere else but Aston Martin. And it costs a whole lot cheaper too. Some say that kit cars are for the image obsessed individual who only wish to look good without any form of substance. However, if you really get a good model, and with a decent engine on Singaporean roads, who's really going to care what kind of engine you have under the bonnet? When you see yourself driving along Orchard Road and you see your reflection in one of the glass windows in an Alfa Romeo 8C's shell, you're gonna feel good.
I don't understand why its not allowed here in Singapore, maybe some of you readers can enlighten me, but its something to think about. It not only will spark the creativity of most kit car builders, it also changes our motoring landscape here unlike the current situation where the most you can do is add on an immensely ugly bodykit for a Honda Jazz or a Hyundai Getz. You may have read in the news previously about a man building his Lamborghini underground and finally having to dig it up from the ground up just to admire his masterpiece, these are some stories that just leave me in awe at the level of commitment and passion that man must have had. We Singaporeans are passionate about cars too but lack the avenues to express that passion. Just imagine having a whole new landscape of cars on our roads.. Driving may just get a little more interesting.
