SUV stands for ‘Sports Utility Vehicle’, but that doesn’t mean it’s suited to actual sport. Especially if you aren’t a great driver. Like this Mazda driver for example.

What happened?

On Wednesday at 7.20p.m this week, a Mazda CX9 driver decided to test the ‘sports’ part of his SUV by making an ambitious lane change on Bartley Road.

Attempting to cross two lanes in one go, the CX9, to its credit, activated its turn signal and crossed one lane with no issue.

However, on the targeted lane, a Honda HRV was right beside the Mazda. Upon realising the Mazda’s intention, the HRV accelerated ahead to either give it a slot in the lane or avoid being crushed.

But the Mazda would not relent or slow down, and hit the Honda in the side. The Honda then stopped, keeping the Mazda behind it and both cars blocked a lane each.

It's worth noting that offenders of reckless driving will face up to 12 months of imprisonment, being fined up t0 $5,000 or both.

Online chatter

Some people actually blamed the Honda for speeding up, while others praised it sarcastically.

Others just insulted the Mazda driver for driving as if it was his grandfather’s road.

  • Japan is weird. I love it (Part 4)

I recently finished watching Shōgun (yes, I'm a little bit late to the party). Released earlier this year, Shōgun has become an utter revelation - going on to win 18 Emmys at this year's Primetime and Creative Arts Emmys, making it the most awarded single season of television in history. It's also the first non-English-language series to win Outstanding Drama Series.  And it truly is outstanding, fully deserving of all the awards that it has garnered.  As you would expect, the show rev

    A sole-ful tribute

Car enthusiasts are an emotional bunch. So, I naturally develop feelings for things on wheels, be it four wheels or two. However, I was surprised to discover that I had become attached to my old pair of sneakers, whose soles are so worn that it hurts to wear them.  That is the unequivocal signal to retire them. But I must say "Thank you" before bidding them goodbye. The laceless design is convenient, saving time when you need to rush off in the morning Through thick and

    Building a racing-themed watch!

This. This watch dial is the reason I started on this particular watch build... It all began when I came across someone's build that utilised the same dial - prior to this, I did not even know of the existence of a Walter Wolf Racing branded watch or dial. If you don't have any idea who or what Walter Wolf Racing is, here's an excerpt from Wikipedia: "Walter Wolf Racing was a Formula One constructor active from 1977 to 1979, which won the first race the team entered. It was owne

    A right-handers world

I was mid-way through a bike ride in Ladahk, feeling the ache in my right hand, when a thought occurred to me: “Huh, how come the throttle is always on the right side of all bikes?”  Statistically, about 90% of people in the world are right-handed. Full disclosure: I am right-handed, part of this largely ignorant majority.  And if you think about it, some things are designed clearly with that in mind.  Throttle on a motorcycle? Right hand. Accelerator pedal in a car? Right f
