TL:DR – A Singaporean-registered Altis and a Trans cab travel on the fast lane of the causeway, but only the Altis gets apprehended by the Malaysian police.

There are no shortcuts in life.

Likewise, in recent times, there have been no shortcuts on the causeway.

If you’re sick and tired of waiting in the queue, you can always try your luck on the fast lane. You might get away with it, and you might not.

Just like these two vehicles in the 43-second video below.

What happened?

A Trans Cab followed by a red Altis cuts into the car lane from the fast lane of the causeway.

The Trans cab successfully merges into the queue, whereas the Altis did not have much luck as three officers eventually surrounded it.

Unspoken rule

I was very curious as to how the Taxi managed to evade capture.

Some of my colleagues mentioned that public transport (buses and taxis) could travel on the fast lane.

I even saw some comments that supported this claim.

I tried to search online for material that could further support this hypothesis, but I found myself hitting dead ends.

No official document from any authoritative body states that taxis are allowed to use the fast lane.

So, I’m still stuck with my question of “HOW?”

Maybe the comments section can enlighten me.

It looks like netizens are as confused as I am. What is a lucky escape? Or a ‘close one eye’ situation for taxis?

Click bait header... Everyone assume taxi driver will less likely have more money than private car driver to pay summon or bribe..so it is not to judge their judgement call whether  they are in good heart (to let less fortunate escape) or greedy (to expect bigger coffee money) [angel]

  • Japan: The trend that became a turn-off

Ahh Japan. The destination that many travellers desire. The perennial trending subject on social media. Japanese cuisine, culture, quirks, technology, and everything kawaii have inspired endless posts, stories, reels, YouTube videos, and TikToks. If one didn't know better, you'd think it was the dream destination on this planet. While I love the food, the service and the shopping, the sheer number of tourists (me included) has become a turn-off. I'm not talking about those who inconven

    The Joys of Morning Walks

Like most other folks stuck in the rut of smartphone-hyper-use, I recently caught myself doing the same each morning: Waking up to immediately reach for my phone. Reflecting on the first quarter of the year, however – and realising that I’ve been subconsciously plunged into an extended bout of languidness – brought me to the realisation: Perhaps it's time to embrace a different routine. One that started with stepping outside into the crisp morning air, and feeling the gentle warmth of

    The art of doing nothing?

Here’s a quick fun fact for those who’ve sworn themselves entirely off TikTok, out of the fear of having to run yet another social media account: You don’t actually need to log in to the app to scroll it. Quite incredibly (but also quite scarily), the platform’s algorithm is still able to curate an incredible array of videos that it thinks will make you want to keep scrolling. And for this existential-crisis-ridden 28-year old, it’s decided to feed videos more along the 'self-help’ route re

    Armored MMA

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a brutal sport that, in recent decades, has grown to significant prominence.  Whatever you make of the sport (and the often complicated and sometimes problematic climate that swirls around it), there's no denying its popularity, driven in large part by the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) brand - a multi-billion-dollar global enterprise.  But if partially-clothed men/women beating the s*it out of each other is not quite your thing, may I interest you in
