Attention all cyclists! Vehicles with COE are not the only ones with road responsibility

Attention all cyclists! Vehicles with COE are not the only ones with road responsibility

A video was recorded of a cyclist recklessly endangering his own life by cutting across the lane without checking his blindspot.

It resulted in him splitting lanes and almost colliding with the camcar behind him, endangering both his own life and risking damage to the vehicle.

Watch the video for yourself below

Clearly this cyclist is not ‘kiasi’, or as a translation for non-Singaporean folk, ‘afraid to die’.

Oftentimes, in videos like these, it serves well as a reminder that road safety is a shared responsibility and not solely on the shoulders of the vehicles.

Road safety should be treated as instinctive as well as a personal responsibility, and it is crucial that decisive steps are taken against reckless behaviour that might put either the individual or others at risk.

Netizen Comments

Netizens chime in on their opinions of the matter, some criticizing the cyclist while others defend him.

To those idiots who think that in the event your irresponsible cycling act causing an accident between any vehicle, the law will penalise the vehicle's owner so is ok the ride your way, your thinking is just wrong.

Why? Because your life and your safety are your own responsibility not others.

  • A sole-ful tribute

Car enthusiasts are an emotional bunch. So, I naturally develop feelings for things on wheels, be it four wheels or two. However, I was surprised to discover that I had become attached to my old pair of sneakers, whose soles are so worn that it hurts to wear them.  That is the unequivocal signal to retire them. But I must say "Thank you" before bidding them goodbye. The laceless design is convenient, saving time when you need to rush off in the morning Through thick and

    Carpark Review: Downtown East

It used to be most associated with Wild Wild Wet (or Escape Theme Park if you're of a certain vintage) but now is more typically visited by those looking to shop at the NTUC Fairprice of E!Hub or Don Don Donki. Downtown East spans a total of 147,000sqm and was officially opened on 5 November 2000 (according to Wikipedia). For those residing in the far east of Pasir Ris, this is likely to be their port of call for the grocery run (the other typical location being Loyang East). But just how g
