Got helmet, so what? Errant cyclist with a death wish cycles blindly across a major 8-lane junction

You would have probably heard the saying 'put on helmet cannot think' from your BMT sergeant or in an Ah Boys to Men movie.

Sadly, it is true. And this condition affects anyone, regardless of whether you are wearing the SAF helmet or a bicycle helmet.

Here's the reason why:

What Happened?

This ridiculous incident happened at the junction of Eu Tong Sen Street and Merchant Road.

As the traffic lights turned green in the cam car's favour, an errant cyclist dashes out from the right, which caused the cam car and the car beside to perform an emergency brake.

Despite the cam driver's timely reaction, the cam car halted right before the errant cyclist.

As a result, the errant cyclist also had to perform an emergency brake which caused him to lose his balance.

A State of Daze

After the cyclist regained stability by putting one foot down, he gave the cam car and the car beside it a look, filled with incoherence.

It was as though he was high/intoxicated and could not differentiate reality from fantasy.

Afterwards, he continued to cycle off without any apology or remorse.

What bugs me was that he had a blank expression on his face during the entire incident.

Why take such chances? If can avoid an accident, just avoid it lah.

As long as no accident, it’s just an observation. No harm , no foul. But ice kanna big time it’s when everyone start to question the validity of the situation and how we became so lax

  • Japan is weird. I love it (Part 4)

I recently finished watching Shōgun (yes, I'm a little bit late to the party). Released earlier this year, Shōgun has become an utter revelation - going on to win 18 Emmys at this year's Primetime and Creative Arts Emmys, making it the most awarded single season of television in history. It's also the first non-English-language series to win Outstanding Drama Series.  And it truly is outstanding, fully deserving of all the awards that it has garnered.  As you would expect, the show rev

    Still learning to let go

I believe that you need to let go of things in life to make room for new experiences. It sounds hypocritical coming from a former hoarder like me, but it is quite possibly the most important lesson I've learnt these past two years. Decluttering or tidying up is cathartic. That's why I feel clearing out your house can improve your life. Like many, I discovered this before moving into my BTO, as my better half and I attempted to clear out our guest room. Horrifyingly, it had become 'The

    Building a racing-themed watch!

This. This watch dial is the reason I started on this particular watch build... It all began when I came across someone's build that utilised the same dial - prior to this, I did not even know of the existence of a Walter Wolf Racing branded watch or dial. If you don't have any idea who or what Walter Wolf Racing is, here's an excerpt from Wikipedia: "Walter Wolf Racing was a Formula One constructor active from 1977 to 1979, which won the first race the team entered. It was owne

    A right-handers world

I was mid-way through a bike ride in Ladahk, feeling the ache in my right hand, when a thought occurred to me: “Huh, how come the throttle is always on the right side of all bikes?”  Statistically, about 90% of people in the world are right-handed. Full disclosure: I am right-handed, part of this largely ignorant majority.  And if you think about it, some things are designed clearly with that in mind.  Throttle on a motorcycle? Right hand. Accelerator pedal in a car? Right f
