A van driver was caught with his mind in the clouds and ends up rear-ending a poor cyclist on the road.

Did the driver fall asleep at the wheel or something?

The video starts with the Toyota Hiace maintaining a good speed at the first lane of the road as the camcar drives past it.

However, the vehicle suddenly starts to veer towards the kerb. . .

. . . and charges ahead at full-speed, hitting a cyclist who was cycling on the left of the first lane.

The video ends with the van coming to a complete stop after hit, with the accident warranting a few concerned looks from motorists passing by.

Who is at fault?

Although there is an unspoken rivalry between cyclists and drivers, it is important to note that in most accidents, it is not always the cyclist's fault.

While there are some cyclists that clearly break the rules while on the road, in this case, the driver was at fault for not noticing the cyclist earlier.

Here are some rules and guidelines from LTA for cycling on the road:

Netizens' reactions

Most netizens sent their well wishes to the cyclist, while some questioned the driver's intent and actions in the video.

It was speculated that the driver could have been distracted by his mobile phone, or that he could have been daydreaming and did not notice the cyclist at all.

Nevertheless, it is important for drivers on the road to be alert at all times and to always leave a space of at least 1.5m while overtaking cyclists on the road.

if our court can jail a woman 7 weeks for throwing a tv set down 50th floor without hitting anybody, though it can certinly kill someone, then this van driver should be jailed 7 months at least for knowingly crashing into the cyclist.

  • Why can't we be better at airplanes?

I really, really do not enjoy flying. As someone who has to get onto an airplane on a semi-regular basis, I really do not enjoy it (a feeling that has only grown over time).  Honestly, there's nothing about the experience that I enjoy. From having to take out your laptop and liquids at security (regulations vary from airport to airport), standing in line at immigration, mishandled/lost baggage, flight delays and cancellations, there's a lot that makes the experience much less seamless than

    10 terrible wedding songs

A song can have a catchy title and/or chorus, but its true meaning is only found within its lyrics. If you're planning your wedding, any song about breakups, cheating/infidelity, and being the other woman has no business being part of the reception playlist. Most people, however, take the song title to be its meaning and don't consider its actual content. Here are 10 songs that sound romantic but should be avoided. 10) Irreplaceable – Beyoncé Don't mistake this for being

I never knew Monster Trucks were so popular here

Although it appeared to be selling out fast back when my friend shared the link to the Monster Jam Singapore event some months ago, I could never expect just how popular the event turned out to be until the day itself. You see, originating in the USA, Monster Trucks aren't really an international phenomenon, unlike F1 or other forms of motorsports. Even someone like me, who's very interested in cars, doesn't really know much about these massive machines. And yet, on the day of the even
