Lane-splitting between two vehicles? Don't be like this biker with no common sense

Lane-splitting between two vehicles? Don't be like this biker with no common sense

For the uninitiated, you may be wondering why do riders practice lane-splitting?

Well, at least according to riders, lane-splitting is a safer way of riding.

However, what many riders are unaware of is that lane-splitting is only safer if performed PRUDENTLY.

Watch this video to see how this rider's practice of lane-splitting put himself in great danger:

Notoriously Narrow Lanes

This incident occurred along the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) towards Seletar Expressway (SLE).

We are all aware of how narrow the two lanes are for all those who have travelled along the bend featured in the video.

Furthermore, the high heavy vehicle traffic along this route makes it even more hazardous to navigate around this bend.

As such, motorists often practice extra caution when travelling along this route.

What happened?

Within seconds of the video, a motorcyclist is seen riding in between slow-moving vehicles.

While in between 2 vehicles, the rider seemed to have panic-braked due to his inability to squeeze through successfully.

This resulted in the rider losing control of his motorcycle and hitting both vehicles to his side.

Fortunately for the rider, he managed to avoid being involved in a potential freak accident.

I hope this serves as a learning opportunity for ALL RIDERS to practice lane-splitting PRUDENTLY, no matter how experienced one is.

This accident could have been avoided entirely.

Really no brain this biker. There are 3 factors already determine that it is not ideal to ride split lanes.

1) Narrow lanes. (Obviously can see.)

2) This is a bend. (Different drivers, different size of vehicles will turn differently, and might not be able to maintain properly in the lane when negotiating a bend like this.)

3) One of the two is a heavy vehicle. Even regardless of the size, the first two factors already determine is not safe to split lanes.

IKR, these 3 factors already serve as a compelling reason NOT to lane-split. This is beyond stupidity.

  • Japan: The trend that became a turn-off

Ahh Japan. The destination that many travellers desire. The perennial trending subject on social media. Japanese cuisine, culture, quirks, technology, and everything kawaii have inspired endless posts, stories, reels, YouTube videos, and TikToks. If one didn't know better, you'd think it was the dream destination on this planet. While I love the food, the service and the shopping, the sheer number of tourists (me included) has become a turn-off. I'm not talking about those who inconven

The best covers are the ones you don't expect

I'm not a fan of Christmas.  Let's first set aside the unclear and potentially contentious origins of this particular 'holiday', and my general apathy towards religiosity. (Christians celebrate it as the day of Jesus' birth, though some evidence suggests his actual birth was in the spring. Some historians also note that the Christian traditions of Christmas can be traced back to Pagan roots and the Saturnalia festival, and the chosen 25 December date was an attempt by church leaders to appr

We happy few, we Band of Brothers

It is safe to say that one way or another, the majority of Singaporean men have served their country. Be it sleeping in the jungles of Mandai, walking the beat on the streets of Clarke Quay on New Year’s Eve, or putting out fires (literally) clad in heavy protective gear, most local and naturalised male citizens have given up, as the song goes, “two years of our time”. But many have differing views of National Service. Some see it as a hindrance, a waste of time. Some see it as an opportuni
