Mazda has revealed its facelifted Mazda2 in Japan. Set to go on sale there in September, the hatchback will lose its Demio moniker too.

On the outside, Mazda claims that the new car has a revised exterior which strips away “superfluous elements” to reveal a “sculpted form that is simple yet rich.” In simpler terms, it meant that the front has a revised grille which is flanked by slimmer headlights plus a new bumper not unlike the Mazda6. At the back, there’s a modified rear bumper with less plastic body cladding and we can also see new tail lights and chrome accents. blogentry-133713-0-63020900-1563536814.thumb.jpg.869667a8f67e4a1b06a8e6c679879ef4.jpg
Inside, the 2 hatch gets new front seats and updated color schemes plus additional sound deadening material for the comfort of the passengers. The Mazda Connect infotainment system has also been updated with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

Elsewhere, it gains a lane-keep assist, adaptive LED headlights and an adaptive cruise control system with a stop and go function. Handling wise, the new car features G-Vectoring Control Plus and a retuned suspension that promises to improve ride comfort while certain models can now be equipped with the i-Eloop regenerative braking system.

The 2 interior needs to be improved especially the rear seat compartment as compared to the Honda Fit/Jazz and Toyota Vios. As the 3 is grown up to 2,000 cc class, the 2 needs to fill up the gap.

  • A sole-ful tribute

Car enthusiasts are an emotional bunch. So, I naturally develop feelings for things on wheels, be it four wheels or two. However, I was surprised to discover that I had become attached to my old pair of sneakers, whose soles are so worn that it hurts to wear them.  That is the unequivocal signal to retire them. But I must say "Thank you" before bidding them goodbye. The laceless design is convenient, saving time when you need to rush off in the morning Through thick and

Toyota Assure: Keeping you and your car in the best shape

It's now easier than ever to keep an older Toyota in the best health with the new Toyota Assure programme! Toyota's vehicles are well known for their reliability. But keeping a car in sound operating status involves more than just securing a reliable vehicle to start. Then there's also spare parts and servicing to think about. Thankfully, all these are now taken care of thanks to the new Toyota Assure programme. Just what is Toyota Assure? Toyota Assure is warranty programme desig

Japan is weird. I love it (Part 6)

Fireflies. Not a topic I think about often, if at all, but here we are.  On a recent podcast episode, I learnt that the light that fireflies emit is nearly 100% efficient. That's amazing (nature generally is). And it is precisely the study of fireflies (and their light) that has allowed the development of more efficient LED lights.  On a whim, I did a bit of extra Googling, and lo and behold, Japan pops up once more, with yet another culturally-unique eccentricity.  In Japan, ther

We happy few, we Band of Brothers

It is safe to say that one way or another, the majority of Singaporean men have served their country. Be it sleeping in the jungles of Mandai, walking the beat on the streets of Clarke Quay on New Year’s Eve, or putting out fires (literally) clad in heavy protective gear, most local and naturalised male citizens have given up, as the song goes, “two years of our time”. But many have differing views of National Service. Some see it as a hindrance, a waste of time. Some see it as an opportuni
