Watch the 2017 Camaro ZL1's 10-speed autobox in action

Chevrolet has just released a footage of the 2017 Camaro ZL1 going round the Nurburgring in an impressive 7:29.60, making it faster than the Audi R8 V10 Plus which completed the lap in 7 minutes and 32 seconds. In doing so, the new car is also 11 seconds faster than what the previous-generation ZL1 could muster.
The car is basically stock other than a roll hoop plus Sparco racing seats with six-point harnesses. While it did an impressive lap time, we were more fascinated with its new 10-speed automatic torque converter gearbox. With so many ratios to choose from, the car was kept on boil easily throughout the lap, allowing the driver to power out of the corners swiftly. We also noticed the driver leaving the autobox on its own, proofing how well programmed it was for track work.
Other than the gearbox, the lighter new body (100kg less), 6.2-litre supercharged V8 with 650bhp engine, Magnetic Ride Control, Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tyres and Brembo brakes work together to allow the ZL1 to surpass its predecessor easily.
