Hyundai has shown us the latest Sonata a while back. While the changes on the skin aren't revolutionary by any standard, the new car's safety rating has been upped a notch. Just recently, the 2015 Sonata has been awarded the Top Safety Pick+ award by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

The fact that Hyundai cars weren't best known for their safety and the previous Sonata only managed a 'marginal' rating makes the award even more notable. Jump to the video below to catch the action.

You are right.

This would explain why Korean car are heavier as they use a heavier guage steel.

Bad for fuel economy but good for safety.

Korean cars have come a long way since the Pony.

I don't need to see the rating of Sonata to know how sturdy it is. Recently, one sonata taxi rear ended my car at 80+ km and my car was crumbled at back, literally no boot at all but the sonata looks rock solid with minor damage to its bumper.

  • A sole-ful tribute

Car enthusiasts are an emotional bunch. So, I naturally develop feelings for things on wheels, be it four wheels or two. However, I was surprised to discover that I had become attached to my old pair of sneakers, whose soles are so worn that it hurts to wear them.  That is the unequivocal signal to retire them. But I must say "Thank you" before bidding them goodbye. The laceless design is convenient, saving time when you need to rush off in the morning Through thick and

I'm not a fan of Christmas.  Let's first set aside the unclear and potentially contentious origins of this particular 'holiday', and my general apathy towards religiosity. (Christians celebrate it as the day of Jesus' birth, though some evidence suggests his actual birth was in the spring. Some historians also note that the Christian traditions of Christmas can be traced back to Pagan roots and the Saturnalia festival, and the chosen 25 December date was an attempt by church leaders to appr

    Zebras

On a recent podcast episode, this hilarious nugget of information was brought up: "Zebras have the loudest farts".  What.  I have spent some time Googling this, and I cannot yet definitely verify the accuracy of this statement. But there is some scientific basis to it - zebras are hindgut fermenters, and there's a whole bunch of biology behind it but the important takeaway is that yes, zebras fart plenty. This also explains their 'bum-heavy' shape, similar to cows, horses, el

Christmas colours: What do they actually mean?

The members of the Sgcarmart media team recently put its heads together to prepare something special and festive for our readers and viewers - which you can both read about and watch on Instagram - and as we were sitting down to plan things out, we were faced at one point with a deceptively simple question: What are the different meanings behind the colours we associate with Christmas?  In my very non-expert eyes, three distinct colours stand out: Red, green and white primarily,
