To mark the 30th anniversary of the BMW M5, the German marque has come up with a 300-unit limited version of the current F10 model. The BMW M5 '30 Jahre M5' (30 Years of the M5) develops 600bhp and peak torque of 700Nm from a 4.4-litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology.

This makes it not only the most powerful M5 model, but also the most powerful BMW automobile ever.

The foundation for these upgrades was provided by the Competition Package which can be optionally ordered for the regular model. The Competition Package comprises modifications including a revised chassis set up with firmer spring/damper tuning and, among others, a 10mm reduction in ride height.

The 30 Jahre M5 sprints from nought to century mark in a brisk 3.9 seconds. BMW believes its BMW Individual-inspired looks and numerous dynamics and comfort enhancing equipment details make this special edition a highly desirable collector's item.

The special M5 is finished in a shade of Frozen Dark Silver metallic that is subtle yet stands out from the rest of the pack.

The interior is focused squarely on celebrating the model's anniversary. The front occupants settle into the M multifunction seats, whose wide range of electrical adjustment gives them high standards of ergonomics and comfort. The cabin is adorned in materials including alcantara and leather in areas such as the seats, centre console and door panels.

The M sports steering wheel is also trimmed in Alcantara Anthracite. One of the equipment highlights includes a premium surround sound system with a total of 16 speakers from either Harman Kardon or Bang & Olufsen with an output of 600W and 1,200W respectively.

I read that only 30 right-hand drive models will be produced, but none of them will be shipped out of Europe.

  • Japan: The trend that became a turn-off

Ahh Japan. The destination that many travellers desire. The perennial trending subject on social media. Japanese cuisine, culture, quirks, technology, and everything kawaii have inspired endless posts, stories, reels, YouTube videos, and TikToks. If one didn't know better, you'd think it was the dream destination on this planet. While I love the food, the service and the shopping, the sheer number of tourists (me included) has become a turn-off. I'm not talking about those who inconven

    Fascinated by honey

If there's one natural food (aka can be eaten raw) that I absolutely love, it's honey. Yes, there are countless varieties from around the world, but for this story, we'll talk about the kind that comes straight out of a hive, complete with honeycomb. I'm not an expert on this topic, but every time I consume raw, unprocessed honey, it tastes a lot better compared to honey that comes in a jar. No squeeze-bottle honey for me, please. Perhaps it's just my imagination, but raw honey doesn't

Japan is weird. I love it (Part 6)

Fireflies. Not a topic I think about often, if at all, but here we are.  On a recent podcast episode, I learnt that the light that fireflies emit is nearly 100% efficient. That's amazing (nature generally is). And it is precisely the study of fireflies (and their light) that has allowed the development of more efficient LED lights.  On a whim, I did a bit of extra Googling, and lo and behold, Japan pops up once more, with yet another culturally-unique eccentricity.  In Japan, ther
