blogentry-133713-0-63477800-1400400919_thumb.jpgDay 3 of the trip. Woke up around 9:00am to great weather. (You can check out Part 1 and Part 2 for previous entries on this trip)

blogentry-133713-0-29599400-1400400930_thumb.jpgBefore setting off, I took one last stroll around the hotel's vicinity and the beach. One thing I learnt from this trip was time was way too tight. Even though I had a nice pool and a beach at my disposal, I never found time to go for a dip.

blogentry-133713-0-82970600-1400400835_thumb.jpgUpon reaching the car after checking out, I was flabbergasted to find some dog poo on my windscreen. Great start to the morning I guess...

blogentry-133713-0-88063600-1400401115_thumb.jpgDecided to go pass the dam and back on Jalan Teluk Bahang for one last blast of the B-roads as I wanted to try out the newly built second bridge that starts from Batu Maung which will then lead us back to the main land.

blogentry-133713-0-70563800-1400401128_thumb.jpgSaw some gravel and did some unnecessary stuff while no one was looking...

blogentry-133713-0-74373400-1400401140_thumb.jpgDoesn't the road look inviting?

blogentry-133713-0-70761900-1400645462_thumb.jpgNote the drop on the right side of the road!

blogentry-133713-0-60499900-1400401158_thumb.jpgMore scenic views while descending from the hills..

blogentry-133713-0-63100600-1400401171_thumb.jpgAlas, bad luck struck again. Seems like the bridge was closed for some last minute maintenance upon arrival. Back to using the old bridge then.

blogentry-133713-0-26636400-1400401219_thumb.jpgFrom then on, it was the long drive home. It rained at times, making the driving a bit dreary as visibility dropped and so did the speed.

blogentry-133713-0-85375700-1400401207_thumb.jpgAt least the occasional supercar and a good lunch brightened things up.

blogentry-133713-0-53418700-1400645893_thumb.jpgOverall, the trip was a success and I would recommend everyone to try going up at least once.

However there are a couple of things I would like to highlight to all readers. Firstly, it is a pretty long drive. Eight hours to be exact for a one way trip. Having another driver or stopping over at Kuala Lumpur would be a better idea. Secondly, a 3D2N stay at Penang is too short! I missed out on quite a few other attractions like museums and temples that were said to be worth visiting. Lastly, do a full check up on your car first before you do a trip. Unfortunately, I forgot and halfway through, I was out of gas for the air-con. Needless to say, it got pretty warm at times.

You could have repaired your aircon or at least topped up the gas in Penang. Driving without aircon in the rain risks fogging up the interior of the windshield (which opening the window may not be enough).

Any part 4?

Glad you enjoyed your car to the fullest before it suffers the premature sleep..

How did dog poo end up on your windscreen?

The last time I did a long drive up north in my chevrolet aveo, the air-con also died on me on the way back. But it was not the gas problem. The mechanic said that the compressor needs to be replaced as I should have added lubricating oil to the compressor bearings before my long trip.

Till now, I still dunnoe add what oil, and add it where.

Good point there. Lucky for me, the aircon was only down on the way up. My trip back home it was perfectly fine.

Nice article on the Ignis man. I bought an Ignis for my wife 2 years back, was driving a civic. Recently sold the civic. Now living with the Ignis as our only car. Brought it to sepang a month back. Looovvveeee it. Now planning on extending the coe (expires in sept this yr). I know, lots of people say i stupid. But I have driven a few car and none is this chuckable and no FF car will ever be this light.

Just had a new paint job and re-upholstered the seats and trims with leather, a new momo wheel, Schroth ASM belts for track and akan datang dixel replacement rotors and rubber/trim pieces to replace the aging ones!

When i saw this article a month back, i just came from Penang by air. Flew there to visit relatives and rented a Saga at the airport. Was driving the mountain roads eating durains and trust me, i wondered what it would be like to have driven up instead with our ignis. You made that dream come true virtually. Swee!

  • A sole-ful tribute

Car enthusiasts are an emotional bunch. So, I naturally develop feelings for things on wheels, be it four wheels or two. However, I was surprised to discover that I had become attached to my old pair of sneakers, whose soles are so worn that it hurts to wear them.  That is the unequivocal signal to retire them. But I must say "Thank you" before bidding them goodbye. The laceless design is convenient, saving time when you need to rush off in the morning Through thick and

    Cleaning is relaxing?

Every once in awhile, I find myself watching 20-minute long videos on Youtube on something that most people will probably find quite bizarre: Carpet cleaning videos.  (This video has 5.4m views!!!!) It's... a particular kind of Youtube rabbit hole. I concede that.  However, I must say that I find such videos strangely relaxing and soothing. Beyond the ASMR component of it, I do find something quite nice about the specificity and particularity of such videos, and in some

ERP 2.0: Possible positions for your processing unit

Your OBU's processing unit isn't always mounted on the passenger footwell. Depending on the car that you drive, more than one option may be available! Since November 2023, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) has been gradually replacing in-vehicle units (IUs) with the new on-board units (OBU). The OBU will pave the way for smoother traffic as we transition to the new ERP 2.0 system that is based on Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology.  The OBU comprises three parts: An

Japan is weird. I love it (Part 4)

I recently finished watching Shōgun (yes, I'm a little bit late to the party). Released earlier this year, Shōgun has become an utter revelation - going on to win 18 Emmys at this year's Primetime and Creative Arts Emmys, making it the most awarded single season of television in history. It's also the first non-English-language series to win Outstanding Drama Series.  And it truly is outstanding, fully deserving of all the awards that it has garnered.  As you would expect, the show rev
