blogentry-133713-0-78991500-1400142011_thumb.jpgWhile we all know that this year's Formula One 1.6-litre V6 Turbo power units have been criticised for being too soft in terms of volume, some people prefer the quieter and more defined engine note.

And Mercedes is possibly the first one with a solution - a flared 'megaphone' exhaust. Sadly, early reports indicate that the new exhaust does not make much of a difference to the volume of the engine.

I still remember in the 90's,my friend's Yamaha TZR125,also put a so called "Trumpet' inside the exhausts to improve the sound & performance..

F1 uses a straight through exhaust system. Unlike road cars which have catalytic converter and noise mufflers. The F1 exhaust is already at its loudest.

Bernie Ecclestone says he was "horrified" by the noise produced by the new Formula 1 engines, or to be more precise the lack of it. They don't, he says, "sound like racing cars".

Might as well install a loudspeaker behind.

1 step forward, 3 steps back.

  • A sole-ful tribute

Car enthusiasts are an emotional bunch. So, I naturally develop feelings for things on wheels, be it four wheels or two. However, I was surprised to discover that I had become attached to my old pair of sneakers, whose soles are so worn that it hurts to wear them.  That is the unequivocal signal to retire them. But I must say "Thank you" before bidding them goodbye. The laceless design is convenient, saving time when you need to rush off in the morning Through thick and

    Cleaning is relaxing?

Every once in awhile, I find myself watching 20-minute long videos on Youtube on something that most people will probably find quite bizarre: Carpet cleaning videos.  (This video has 5.4m views!!!!) It's... a particular kind of Youtube rabbit hole. I concede that.  However, I must say that I find such videos strangely relaxing and soothing. Beyond the ASMR component of it, I do find something quite nice about the specificity and particularity of such videos, and in some

My favourite racing game is back!

THERE'S A NEW TOKYO XTREME RACER GAME ON THE WAYYYY!!!! This is the best news for fans of this rather understated and obscure racing game. Also known as Shutoko Battle in Japan, this is a series of racing games by Genki, a Japanese game company that was founded in 1990. Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 is one of the most popular game in the series as it features many cars, opponents and an extensive map For those that have never heard of these games, I'll give you a quick run-down. Disconnecting from Our Virtual Reality

Recently, I had a scare at work. My laptop was suddenly unable to access the Internet despite working fine the entire day. A check with IT showed that the browser I was using, Arc, had somehow triggered the Falcon cybersecurity program, which promptly locked down my laptop despite the browser having worked fine for almost a year at that point. While I thankfully had cleared out my video backlog before it happened (most of them pending approval, a couple ready to publish), I was unable
