When you are responsible for many Formula One World Championships and devastatingly fast supercars such as the new McLaren MP4-12C, you're entitled to speak your mind. The executive chairman and part owner of the McLaren Group, Ron Dennis, has earned a reputation for his outspoken opinion and this time directed his criticism toward the venerable Bugatti Veyron by calling it a 'complete piece of junk'.

The 63 year-old was being interviewed by Arabian Business when he said he could not even find a single aspect of the Bugatti Veyron that makes him feel good and called it 'pig ugly'. He also commented that the Veyron can't handle very well.

Dennis then went on to refer to a BBC Top Gear comparison of his previous supercar, the McLaren F1, against the Bugatti's technological tour de force. He described how the V12-powered F1 trounced the 16-cylinder Veyron so many times off the line that the filming crew got frustrated because his car was supposed to be beaten. Eventually the Veyron stopped dropping its clutch on take-off and was able to catch up to the McLaren F1. The Bugatti Veyron is powered by an 8.0-litre, quad turbo engine making 736 kW. In contrast, the McLaren F1 had a naturally aspirated 6.0-litre kicking out 468kW.

It will be interesting to see Bugatti's response to these comments made by Ron Dennis.

Hello!

One important fact was left out. Richard Hammond was driving the Veyron. The Stig was in the Macca. Being a 'tame racing driver' he knows how to launch cars more cleanly than Hammond. Put Stiggy in the Veyron and things may have been different. The Maccca may have been the one stalling off the line. Ron Dennis is a spoilsport.

Your argument could be true about the drag race although I couldn't see the driver as an important factor because the Veyron has a DSG gearbox with launch control.

Besides didn't the Veyron win the race in the end?

Ahh Japan. The destination that many travellers desire. The perennial trending subject on social media. Japanese cuisine, culture, quirks, technology, and everything kawaii have inspired endless posts, stories, reels, YouTube videos, and TikToks. While I love the food, the service and the shopping, the sheer number of tourists (me included) has become a turn-off. I'm not talking about those who inconven

    Curry does not exist?

Curry. When many of us think of Indian food, we naturally think of curry.  Except, well, 'curry' isn't actually a thing. Not the word, and not even technically the food that we think of.  Many of us probably think of curry as some sort of dish that has a gravy or sauce. But that is in fact a generalisation of a wide variety of Indian dishes, and also a decidedly Western invention intrinsically tied to India's Colonial past. 'Curry' as a word doesn't actually exist in the languages spok
