Toyota has released the third generation Toyota Vios at the Bangkok Motor Show. The compact budget sedan wears the brand's new corporate face as seen in newer models such as the RAV4. The higher-end variants are equipped with projector head lamps.

Measuring 4,410mm long, 1,700mm wide and 1,475mm tall, the new Vios is a good 110mm longer than its predecessor. If my memory served me correctly, the new car is even longer than the last made-in-Japan Corolla we had in Singapore.

Sad to say, the new Vios still uses the same 1.5-litre 1NZ-FE engine producing exactly the same 109bhp and 141Nm of torque as before. The engine is mated to, as you would have guessed, an optional four-speed automatic transmission. A five-speed manual is standard. The power train seemed to have remained the same since the first generation Vios.

On the inside, the new Vios gets a four-speaker audio system with MP3/USB/AUX connectivity. The instrument panel has moved from the center to right, right in front of the driver, and has a sporty binocular design.

Looks good but as usual, sad to say; engine no change.

Don't know why Toyota has this habit to re-use engines and 4 speed auto some more!! Sigh!!

  • A sole-ful tribute

Car enthusiasts are an emotional bunch. So, I naturally develop feelings for things on wheels, be it four wheels or two. However, I was surprised to discover that I had become attached to my old pair of sneakers, whose soles are so worn that it hurts to wear them.  That is the unequivocal signal to retire them. But I must say "Thank you" before bidding them goodbye. The laceless design is convenient, saving time when you need to rush off in the morning Through thick and

    The Act of Creation

“WHAT’S A GOOD USERNAME?!” Such was the source of my agony as I was handed a pair of figurative keys to MyAutoBlog. I’d asked the colleague from IT who was helping me set up this account if I really had to make an account with my work email, hoping I could use the username that came with my personal MCF account instead. “yes”, in lowercase no less, was what I got. Oh well. After a good 10 minutes (I think), I decided on this username (a reference I hope someone gets), juvenile and

My favourite racing game is back!

THERE'S A NEW TOKYO XTREME RACER GAME ON THE WAYYYY!!!! This is the best news for fans of this rather understated and obscure racing game. Also known as Shutoko Battle in Japan, this is a series of racing games by Genki, a Japanese game company that was founded in 1990. Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 is one of the most popular game in the series as it features many cars, opponents and an extensive map For those that have never heard of these games, I'll give you a quick run-down.
