If you are impressed by the design philosophy of the new Hyundai Sonata, be ready to be thrilled by what the Korean maker could offer going forward. Hyundai presented to the world the i-flow concept car in Geneva, not only as a possible design study for the company's future products, but also as a testing ground for technological innovations.

Measuring 4.78 metres long, 1.85m wide and 1.4m high, the i-flow is about the size of a VW Passat. It points to a new D-segment family car Hyundai plans to launch in 2011. Its fluidic design, as Hyundai calls it, is aerodynamically sound and is targetted at the increasingly popular coupe-saloon sector currently dominated by models such as the Passat CC, MB CLS and the Audi A5 Sportback.

The concept model is powered by a 1.7-litre diesel engine with two-stage turbocharging linked to a Lithium Ion-Polymer battery. It is Hyundai's first diesel-electric hybrid powertrain and is mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Hyundai claims that this combination produces just 85 grams of C02 per km.

Expected the interior of the production model to be severely toned down from the concept, but I wish that the tail light combination and side profile will remain close to the concept, as they sent me salivating!

  • A sole-ful tribute

Car enthusiasts are an emotional bunch. So, I naturally develop feelings for things on wheels, be it four wheels or two. However, I was surprised to discover that I had become attached to my old pair of sneakers, whose soles are so worn that it hurts to wear them.  That is the unequivocal signal to retire them. But I must say "Thank you" before bidding them goodbye. The laceless design is convenient, saving time when you need to rush off in the morning Through thick and

    The Act of Creation

“WHAT’S A GOOD USERNAME?!” Such was the source of my agony as I was handed a pair of figurative keys to MyAutoBlog. I’d asked the colleague from IT who was helping me set up this account if I really had to make an account with my work email, hoping I could use the username that came with my personal MCF account instead. “yes”, in lowercase no less, was what I got. Oh well. After a good 10 minutes (I think), I decided on this username (a reference I hope someone gets), juvenile and

Forget resolutions, just focus on starting fresh

The start of a new year is always a happy time for me. Apart from gatherings and mini reunions, January is when I reflect on everything I've accomplished last year, while mentally noting the things I still need to work on. Resolutions, though, are not for me. While it's not wrong to list some and strive towards them like goals, I think making resolutions is not the optimal way for me to reach new milestones, because more often than not, they're declared 'in the moment'. Or worse, after you'
