According to a latest Straits Times article, local labour union National Trade Union Congress (NTUC) aims to help low income workers upgrade their live-hood and monthly income range by providing subsidiaries of up to 90% to obtain a Class 3 or 4 driving licences.

People whom obtain them can apply for better paying jobs in the transportation industry. A Class 3 licence can cost up to $2,000 yet under the new scheme, qualified and successful applicants only end up paying $200.

This scheme is only for all Singaporeans and Permanent Residents whom are seeking or considering jobs at the transport and logistics industry, which is seeing a severe shortage of manpower.

To qualify you must be currently earning less than $1,700, or below $1,400 per household member a month. All successful applicants will also receive a training allowance and can finish the course in a faster pace of nine months. Jobs including delivery, dispatch or bus drivers will be offered after successfully obtaining their licences.

  • Japan is weird. I love it (Part 4)

I recently finished watching Shōgun (yes, I'm a little bit late to the party). Released earlier this year, Shōgun has become an utter revelation - going on to win 18 Emmys at this year's Primetime and Creative Arts Emmys, making it the most awarded single season of television in history. It's also the first non-English-language series to win Outstanding Drama Series.  And it truly is outstanding, fully deserving of all the awards that it has garnered.  As you would expect, the show rev

    Building a racing-themed watch!

This. This watch dial is the reason I started on this particular watch build... It all began when I came across someone's build that utilised the same dial - prior to this, I did not even know of the existence of a Walter Wolf Racing branded watch or dial. If you don't have any idea who or what Walter Wolf Racing is, here's an excerpt from Wikipedia: "Walter Wolf Racing was a Formula One constructor active from 1977 to 1979, which won the first race the team entered. It was owne

    Still learning to let go

I believe that you need to let go of things in life to make room for new experiences. It sounds hypocritical coming from a former hoarder like me, but it is quite possibly the most important lesson I've learnt these past two years. Decluttering or tidying up is cathartic. That's why I feel clearing out your house can improve your life. Like many, I discovered this before moving into my BTO, as my better half and I attempted to clear out our guest room. Horrifyingly, it had become 'The

My inexplicable attraction to instant food

Ready-to-eat microwaveable meals, instant noodles, plane food - these aren't typically the kinds of foods that people will spring for when given a choice. But for some reason, I actually enjoy eating foods like that, and would even find myself craving for them at times. I know, most of you would say it's the salt, seasoning, MSG, sugar and all the unhealthy flavourings that I'm hooked to. And you might be right - but I think it's more than that; there's something about eati
