Don't talk cok VW, it is very obvious that the cost cutting measures are there in the new Jetta. Compared to the previous Gen Jetta, which really felt well build with good quality soft touch materials, the new ones is outright cost cutting. No cost cutting then why so many hard plastics? And the design looks worse compared to previous Jetta as far as the interior is concern?

I agreed on the plasticky interior especially on the doors. But the panel to access the boot existed in my jetta 2011.

I'm not a business/logistics expert, but throughout my life, I've been taught that a 10 cent cost reduction at the factory will lead to $1,000 cheaper at the customer. Hence, consumers like me, always scratch their head when a 10 cent option is missing from their car, when its inclusion would greatly outweigh the 10 cent.

This article http://goo.gl/O3kh4 shows how Apple is bucking this trend. Their design & product is above everyone's else, it costs $1 more than everyone's else, so it is better than everyone's else. Yet Apple charges more than twice the industry norm (in this case, the charger).

Conclusion:

cost at factory is amplified when it reaches the customers' hands. this is true for both cost up & down.

everyone tries to make this cost go down. only Apple, that I know, is making this go up.

  • Japan is weird. I love it (Part 4)

I recently finished watching Shōgun (yes, I'm a little bit late to the party). Released earlier this year, Shōgun has become an utter revelation - going on to win 18 Emmys at this year's Primetime and Creative Arts Emmys, making it the most awarded single season of television in history. It's also the first non-English-language series to win Outstanding Drama Series.  And it truly is outstanding, fully deserving of all the awards that it has garnered.  As you would expect, the show rev

    Still learning to let go

I believe that you need to let go of things in life to make room for new experiences. It sounds hypocritical coming from a former hoarder like me, but it is quite possibly the most important lesson I've learnt these past two years. Decluttering or tidying up is cathartic. That's why I feel clearing out your house can improve your life. Like many, I discovered this before moving into my BTO, as my better half and I attempted to clear out our guest room. Horrifyingly, it had become 'The

    DENZA D9: True Flagship Excellence

What makes something a flagship? Flagship products represent the very best of a brand. Whether it's cars, electronic products, even services, a 'flagship' is core to a brand experience, as well as to the brand's image. Besides just delivering all the tangible features and functionality offered by the brand, a flagship product is also a showcase of the intangible - about what a brand stands for, and what it aims to deliver to customers. DENZA, a BYD Premium Brand, has now been officiall
