I was looking forward to Monday, 12 Dec 11, not because I missed my work so much but rather it is the first day of BMW Fascination Roadshow. I was there on Monday in order to beat the weekend crowd, which would facilitate photo taking. In addition to catching a glimpse of the futuristic BMW Vision EfficientDynamics Concept Car as shown above, I was there to collect the Team BMW finisher pack for the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore and to see the all-new BMW 1 series in flesh (or rather metal).

The 1 series model on display is the 118i Sport. It comes equipped with the aggressive-looking Xenon light for both low-beam and high-beam. According to the technical data, the 116i Urban comes fitted with similar headlights as well.

Looking at the dashboard layout, the 1 Series makes you feel like you are in a vehicle that is of a higher class. The chunky steering is nice to hold and it comes with red stitching. The upper dashboard is laid with soft-touch plastics but is letdown by the material at the lower portion (especially the glovebox), which feels a little hard. The plastics on the internal door panel should have utilized better soft-touch material as well. On a more positive note, the thick interior door handle gives a substantial feel to the car and the supportive rear bench can accommodate 3 adults comfortably. The red stitching throughout the interior reminds the passengers that they are in the sport version which sprints from 0 to 100km/h in a mere 7.5 secs.

After surveying the 1 Series, I proceed to claim the finisher pack at the ticket counter, which consists of a pair of BMW slipper and towel. Both items feel

I signed up with Team BMW for the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon. I collected the finisher pack at the BMW booth at Suntec City.

The approach of the year-end holidays often also means the annual pilgrimage Singaporeans take to Japan to soothe their souls after a long year will soon kick into high season. (Just open any of your social media applications - Instagram, Facebook or TikTok - and you'll see.) For the many amongst us who can spare neither the financial expense nor the time, however, there's no reason to fret. Allow the mind some space to wander, and one will find there are many places on our sunny island tha

My inexplicable attraction to instant food

Ready-to-eat microwaveable meals, instant noodles, plane food - these aren't typically the kinds of foods that people will spring for when given a choice. But for some reason, I actually enjoy eating foods like that, and would even find myself craving for them at times. I know, most of you would say it's the salt, seasoning, MSG, sugar and all the unhealthy flavourings that I'm hooked to. And you might be right - but I think it's more than that; there's something about eati

    Hard Enduro: The ultimate motorsport?

I enjoy motorsports of all kinds - four wheels good, two wheels better. And while watching them on TV (okay let's be honest Youtube, who even watches TV nowadays) is fun, getting to partake in anything even remotely resembling it, even in a highly truncated, totally superficial manner, is even more exciting.  Earlier this year, I did a short 2.5 day off-road riding 'tour', and it was easily the hardest, most physically demanding 2.5 days I've ever spent on a motorbike. It really gives you a

    Still learning to let go

I believe that you need to let go of things in life to make room for new experiences. It sounds hypocritical coming from a former hoarder like me, but it is quite possibly the most important lesson I've learnt these past two years. Decluttering or tidying up is cathartic. That's why I feel clearing out your house can improve your life. Like many, I discovered this before moving into my BTO, as my better half and I attempted to clear out our guest room. Horrifyingly, it had become 'The
