Porsche's designers are still as lazy as ever

Porsche designers have always been known as the laziest people when it comes to drawing a new car and by the looks of the new 928, I think they haven't used up a sheet of their drawing paper, neither do they ever need to sharpen their pencils.

This is going to be the replacement of the 928 which was built between 1977 and 1995 and it will pose some form of competition in the Gran Tourer market as it will be up against the Ferarri 599 and the Aston Martin DB9. And 'stiff competition' it may be, this Porsche looks terribly uninviting and boring. Its conveniently based on the current Panamera which is disappointing news since its not the best looking car there is out there, but when you give it a proper look, it doesn't look too bad, yet it still isn't a great piece of design.

Essentially, this is a two-door version of the Panamera with a shortened wheelbase. It still has enough space for 4 and maybe even a golf-bag which you will struggle to stuff in the 911, but not in this. The 928 will be powered by engines lifted from the Panamera with a 4.8 litre V8, while turbochargers are still in the mix but not confirmed, Porsche's new GT car is estimated to produce between 400 to 500 bhp and only the range topping model will come with 4WD.

Well this version won't be out till 2012, so in the meantime, Porsche lovers who want a 2 door Panamera which isn't as ugly as the Panamera, get this one. The new Porsche 928.

The pattern is always the same. First come up with 4 door, dan 2 door, dan a sportier version call sport pack, whatever.... More variants and more expensive to milk men suffering from mid-life crisis. :D

Lazy or not.. why change when you have something really good?

in all honesty, Porsche has made good changes to their cars.. maybe not in the way they look, but in the design of the chassis and engine positioning... as we all know, for Porsche, the engine was always at the wrong place (behind the rear axle).. and they were known for being super tail happy (and fun and dangerous at the same time too!) but they have now moved it closer and closer to the middle (you can argue that they're almost mid engines now).. added a good 4wd tranny.. and improved greatly in suspension geometry....

The approach of the year-end holidays often also means the annual pilgrimage Singaporeans take to Japan to soothe their souls after a long year will soon kick into high season. Hard Enduro: The ultimate motorsport?

I enjoy motorsports of all kinds - four wheels good, two wheels better. And while watching them on TV (okay let's be honest Youtube, who even watches TV nowadays) is fun, getting to partake in anything even remotely resembling it, even in a highly truncated, totally superficial manner, is even more exciting.  Earlier this year, I did a short 2.5 day off-road riding 'tour', and it was easily the hardest, most physically demanding 2.5 days I've ever spent on a motorbike. It really gives you a

    Building a racing-themed watch!

This. This watch dial is the reason I started on this particular watch build... It all began when I came across someone's build that utilised the same dial - prior to this, I did not even know of the existence of a Walter Wolf Racing branded watch or dial. If you don't have any idea who or what Walter Wolf Racing is, here's an excerpt from Wikipedia: "Walter Wolf Racing was a Formula One constructor active from 1977 to 1979, which won the first race the team entered. It was owne

    A right-handers world

I was mid-way through a bike ride in Ladahk, feeling the ache in my right hand, when a thought occurred to me: “Huh, how come the throttle is always on the right side of all bikes?”  Statistically, about 90% of people in the world are right-handed. Full disclosure: I am right-handed, part of this largely ignorant majority.  And if you think about it, some things are designed clearly with that in mind.  Throttle on a motorcycle? Right hand. Accelerator pedal in a car? Right f
