Skoda has a new concept car out called the Skoda MissionL. This new car basically previews future Skoda design and it also shows us what the next Skoda Octavia will look like. According to Skoda the MissionL is a 5 door hatchback like the Octavia, is almost production ready and initial markets will be Europe and China.

It looks like a typical Volkswagen group car to me. If you put on a VW or an Audi badge on it it would certainly be at home as one of those brands. The VW DNA simply shines through especially those clean styling and very distinct shoulder line. You get a fluted bonnet and a vertical grille to differentiate it as a Skoda from one of those People's Car. Badge it as a 'Jetta' and people will buy it.

That statement is especially true over here in this region, which is why no one buys Skoda and everyone running for a Passat, Jetta or a Polo instead of a Fabia, Octavia or a Superb no matter how good of a value they are. Blame it on the COE and other taxes as people aren't going to plonk down a wad of dollars for a car with no image especially since its going to cost a bomb with those taxes and whatnots.

In short the Skoda MissionL is one of those cars that may be a great drive but it going to have a tough time finding people to drive it if it goes on sale around these parts of the world. Anyone out there willing to give a decent Czech car a chance? But don't count on me buying one as my sights aren't on any of the VW group cars at the moment.

  • Japan is weird. I love it (Part 4)

I recently finished watching Shōgun (yes, I'm a little bit late to the party). Released earlier this year, Shōgun has become an utter revelation - going on to win 18 Emmys at this year's Primetime and Creative Arts Emmys, making it the most awarded single season of television in history. It's also the first non-English-language series to win Outstanding Drama Series.  And it truly is outstanding, fully deserving of all the awards that it has garnered.  As you would expect, the show rev

    Relaxing to restoration videos

There are tons of YouTube videos one could watch to unwind and decompress at the end of the day, perhaps while having dinner. You could watch one of those nature documentaries, travel vlogs featuring beautiful beaches, or perhaps a cooking show. But there's something strangely therapeutic about watching restoration videos. And the channel I find myself drawn to is Fumicho Restoration, a channel full of videos of old motorcycles being repaired and essentially reborn. I'm not even familiar wi

    DENZA D9: True Flagship Excellence

What makes something a flagship? Flagship products represent the very best of a brand. Whether it's cars, electronic products, even services, a 'flagship' is core to a brand experience, as well as to the brand's image. Besides just delivering all the tangible features and functionality offered by the brand, a flagship product is also a showcase of the intangible - about what a brand stands for, and what it aims to deliver to customers. DENZA, a BYD Premium Brand, has now been officiall

My inexplicable attraction to instant food

Ready-to-eat microwaveable meals, instant noodles, plane food - these aren't typically the kinds of foods that people will spring for when given a choice. But for some reason, I actually enjoy eating foods like that, and would even find myself craving for them at times. I know, most of you would say it's the salt, seasoning, MSG, sugar and all the unhealthy flavourings that I'm hooked to. And you might be right - but I think it's more than that; there's something about eati
