This may be a rather messy name to remember, but I must say its one of the best looking Toyota's I've ever seen. Christened the FT-86 G Sports Concept, it is Toyota's first collaboration with Subaru. And this is what they've come up with so far.

Its aggressive, bold, sharp and aerodynamic roof-line shouts out stunning coupe while that matte black vented bonnet and huge spoiler at the rear makes the 'Toyobaru' look like a serious track-day car. But what you are looking at is possibly the brand new Celica that Toyota has been planning to bring back from the dead. The side profile looks like it came from a blend between the Nissan 370Z and the GTR with bold and deep indentations to the side of the car. The part where Subaru comes in is under the bonnet where its 2.0litre Boxer engine lies and sources say that there's a turbo in the mix... Though no official figures are out on its power output, the FT-86 G features a six speed manual gearbox which will make classic stick-shift fans happy for sure.

The best bit about this new car is its GPS system which is definitely a toy to die for in this car. It is a GPS Track Day ready system which is co-developed by the makers of Gran Turismo and automotive technology giant Denso. What this GPS system essentially does is, blast the car round a track a few times till you're happy with your time, remove a memory card from the car and stuff it into your PS3 and either watch a replay of your lap or race against yourself!!! The Japanese can never bore me.. its far too incredible for me to imagine just how cool that is... The best part, Toyota say they will offer this technology to more future models.

NEW CELICA???? U got to be kidding.... Celicas were famous for being 4wd or FF.

The 1600GT or 2000GT were solid cars that were FR. I've only seen but not driven... so there is nothing to comment on it.

This car is a class of it's own. Some people are serious Celica collectors, what you said of this being the new CELICA... would be a slap to their faces. Even so, they say this is an AE-86 replacement, do you think other AE-86 owner will be happy with this car? Read around other AE-86 enthusiast forum. Thing is, we won't know anything till we drive it. I can tell you is, the AE-86 is a FUN UNDER-POWERED car, where as this is much heavier and powerful, if you compare the SPECS.

It would be nice if you did some work then with a write up of toyota sports cars from the past to present and future. Most probably you'll understand every concept of their idea in sports.

My advice to you would be... try driving different sports cars to their limits and you'll understand each car's story and "future" of each vehicle.

Without it, the story has no life... is pretty much dead.

Cheers

  • Japan: The trend that became a turn-off

Ahh Japan. The destination that many travellers desire. The perennial trending subject on social media. Japanese cuisine, culture, quirks, technology, and everything kawaii have inspired endless posts, stories, reels, YouTube videos, and TikToks. If one didn't know better, you'd think it was the dream destination on this planet. While I love the food, the service and the shopping, the sheer number of tourists (me included) has become a turn-off. I'm not talking about those who inconven

Journey to the West: First Steps in Southwestern China, Pt. 1

It used to be that when a person was visiting China for the first time, the natural choice was Beijing. No better way to learn about a country than a visit to its capital, amirite? Having had their fill of Peking duck and climbed the Great Wall of China, the next places they would likely look at are those on the east coast - Shanghai, Nanjing, perhaps Harbin. In recent times though, the southwestern parts of China have gotten much coverage on social media. Chongqing, the country’s largest c

Christmas colours: What do they actually mean?

The members of the Sgcarmart media team recently put its heads together to prepare something special and festive for our readers and viewers - which you can both read about and watch on Instagram - and as we were sitting down to plan things out, we were faced at one point with a deceptively simple question: What are the different meanings behind the colours we associate with Christmas?  In my very non-expert eyes, three distinct colours stand out: Red, green and white primarily,

My favourite racing game is back!

THERE'S A NEW TOKYO XTREME RACER GAME ON THE WAYYYY!!!! This is the best news for fans of this rather understated and obscure racing game. Also known as Shutoko Battle in Japan, this is a series of racing games by Genki, a Japanese game company that was founded in 1990. Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 is one of the most popular game in the series as it features many cars, opponents and an extensive map For those that have never heard of these games, I'll give you a quick run-down.
