Young families who want a dash of chic in their choice of cars can rejoice, for the Mini Countryman has arrived in Singapore at last.

The Countryman is the latest addition to Mini's burgeoning range of cars, and is the most practical model of all the Minis yet, which should suit couples who have just started easing into parenthood, yet want to experience the coolness of Mini ownership, for the Mini brand is now no longer restricted to the free and swinging singles.

Personally, I am all for Mini expanding their range to cater to more market groups. There is no doubt that Minis are the epitome of style, and it's refreshing to see that they are now reaching out to even more people, which can only help to boost its brand image further.

Of course, the Countryman is not the first Mini to be designed for families, for the Clubman saw to that. But the Countryman features four standard opening doors, as opposed to the Clubman's single rearward opening door on the right side of the car, and a tailgate that lifts open upwards, like a typical hatchback, against the split rear doors of the Clubman. So in that aspect, the Countryman is a more 'normal' family vehicle than the Clubman.

The Countryman also has a longer wheelbase, and a raised ride height, so this will further enhance its appeal to families, with its SUV-like stance offering an added sense of security.

As a young single myself, having space for the family might not be that much of a priority, yet I can see how the Countryman can appeal even to me. Driving around with the cachet of the Mini name, yet having the space and practicality of a family car, capable of ferrying people or things with ease. Certainly sounds good to me.

May I ask what gives a 'young single' the experience and knowledge to tell us parents that this car will suit us? Moreover, is there in actual fact anything about the car that is good for families as I couldn't find that from the article? Seems like the BMW press release has been swallowed hook, line and sinker then defecated and rehashed for our viewing indifference. Why bother?

Epitome of style? A Mini? Really? Messrs Ferrari, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce and Bentley really must pack up shop then. I've clearly been cruelly misinformed all these years.

Haha but at least the MINI owners believe in themselves. Saw this vid thought you guys might find it interesting:

  • Japan: The trend that became a turn-off

Ahh Japan. The destination that many travellers desire. The perennial trending subject on social media. Japanese cuisine, culture, quirks, technology, and everything kawaii have inspired endless posts, stories, reels, YouTube videos, and TikToks. If one didn't know better, you'd think it was the dream destination on this planet. While I love the food, the service and the shopping, the sheer number of tourists (me included) has become a turn-off. I'm not talking about those who inconven

The Music that Shaped Me, Pt. 1

Some of my colleagues will know that I make electronic music outside of work and school. A stark contrast from the impression I give off (several people throughout my teenage years told me I seemed more like a classical guy). Truth be told, I wasn’t always into music. Growing up in an average Singaporean Chinese household, my main sources were either the sporadic exposure to radio stations, or more frequently the theme songs of whatever was playing on KidsCentral/Okto (RIP free-to-air kids

    When suppressed feelings arise

"Don't keep it bottled up inside" is a saying many of us are familiar with. By now, most of us are aware that ignoring your emotions is an unhealthy practice. Yet many of us do it anyway. I don't think I'm particularly stoic, but as I get older, I've realised that I do tend to not express how I'm feeling, and that this practice has led to anxiety. One example of this happened just a few weeks ago. Prior to this year's Motor Show, I had trouble sleeping. I would keep waking up with my m
