There seems to be a new business plan for taxi cab services making its way around the United Kingdom and also in Germany. When you think of a taxi your first thought would be those diesel powered Toyota Crowns or Nissan Cedrics or the newer CNG powered ones. And when you think of a taxi cab company, SMART Cab is one that operates a taxi service in Singapore. However, imagine taking the small Mercedes built SMART ForTwo and making it into a taxi. This tiny car is now a taxi in the U.K. and in Ger
It seems that there are some car owners out there who just can't take any shred of criticism about their cars...even if the criticism is shared by many...
Over the weekend, I woke up to find a rather humourous email (titled: wildest Z on the planet) from Jim Deaubler about how much he doesn't appreciate what I said about the 350Z Roadster in a review I wrote about the 370Z Roadster.
Here's the email from Jim Deaubler...
"I thought I would drop you a line on the comments that were ma
General Motors is trying to ease buyers concerns about battery life by announcing it will guarantee the upcoming Chevrolet Volt's lithium-ion battery pack for 100,000 miles or a period of eight-years, whichever comes first.
In addition, GM noted that the warranty will be transferable at no cost to a new owner should a Volt buyer decide to sell his car. According to the Detroit automaker, "it's the automotive industry's longest, most comprehensive battery warranty for an electric vehicle".
Here are official design patent drawings of the all-new 2012 Chevrolet Aveo four-door sedan and five-door hatchback models, filed by General Motors. The next generation of GM's Ford Fiesta rival was teased in concept form with the sporty Aveo RS hatchback study at 2010 Detroit Auto Show in January.
The drawings of the five-door model suggest that the production version follows pretty closely to the RS concept minus of course some snazzy details like the shaved door handles, huge alloy wheel
The Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli is a Ferrari only racing series comprising of F430s, 360s, F355s and 348s. It will now have another Ferrari added to this list; the 458 Challenge. This new race car was revealed during the annual dealer meeting held recently and will join the other Ferraris on the grid in 2011. The photograph above is the one and only official picture released by Ferrari at the moment.
The 458 Challenge race car will be equipped with the same engine, producing the same am
My favourite theory for the fact that traffic is always so heavy and slow on the PIE between Adam and BKE exit is the speed camera planted in the middle. I believe that the threat of being caught on candid camera and the innate instinct of many Singapore drivers to play it safe is the reason why the average speed along that stretch plummets so drastically compared to the stretches immediately before and after. It is of course made worse by the fact that huge signs advertise the speed camera's ex
Like the old saying goes, you win some, you lose some. In this case, Connecticut Powerball winner Rahul Patel, saw his one-week old Audi R8 destroyed by fire. According to a report from the Connecticut Post, Patel was driving the German sports car in Fairfield when he suddenly noticed smoke coming out of the engine compartment.
After he pulled over on the side of the road and stepped out to see what was wrong with the two-seater sports car, it went up in flames. Lucky for him that he steppe
The first time I saw the front end of a Lamborghini Reventon my knees went slightly weak. The large gaping holes and side strakes on the left and the right sides were another unique way to channel air to the car's radiators and also to cool down the brakes. This front end styling was then used on the Gallardo Superleggera and the Murcielago Superveloce. However, no one told Japanese Tuners cum used car resellers, maintenance garage, car insurance agents extraordinaire Super Veloce that they coul
German manufacturer Audi has initiated the plans to end production of the current RS6 model, the most powerful creature on the battlefield, at the end of the third quarter of 2010.
The model will undoubtedly make its market return in a couple of years since the next-generation Audi A6 is scheduled to debut sometime early next year, most likely at the Geneva Motor Show. The next RS6 will follow shortly.
Available as an estate and saloon, the current generation Audi RS6 is powered by an al

And now for an update about Lotus. It seems the new CEO, ex-Ferrari man Dany Bahar has decided to make sweeping changes in order to make Lotus profitable. Proton, the ultimate owners of Lotus at this point of time seem to have allowed a free reign for him to do so.
Sometime last June, Lotus announced that they have a 5 year plan which includes moving upmarket
Peugeot has released official details of the all-new 508, an upmarket replacement for the 407 range. Marketing gurus from the French marque describe the 508 as being full of French chic, with an elegant and timeless exterior design.

Hofele Design is a German company that does tuning on Porsches, Volkswagens and Audis to name a few. And this time they have decided to try and make the Porsche Panamera look slightly better. Take a look at the picture above and you can see that they are showing it with some boats. Or Luxury Yachts if you were being analytical about it. The Panamera Rivage GT 970 is what Hofele Design is now calling it and from what I can see, the yachts are still more streamlined looking than the body kitted Pa
After becoming airborne in the European GP due to a massive crash with a Lotus, Red Bull's Mark Webber wins this edition of the British Formula 1 Grand Prix held last Sunday. This time, aggressive driving and a bit of luck, his tussle with his team mate, and pole position holder, Sebastian Vettel, somehow caused Vettel to go a little wide and got a puncture. That gave him the lead over Lewis Hamilton of McLaren by the first few corners, who ended the race in second. Third place went toward Nico
Retro cars are pretty 'in' nowadays. The reinvention of the Mini Cooper and the Fiat 500 was super successful. The Volkswagen 'New' Beetle is also a hit with the ladies even though it is in need of a model change as it has been around for almost 7million years. Yes. 7 million years if you take into account how fast manufacturers make changes to models nowadays. There have been retro flops too. The Jaguar S-Type is one of them. Too retro for its own good I say and that is why its replacement, the
The team at German tuning outfit, RDX Racedesign, have created a sporty and dynamic package for the Volkswagen Scirocco. In order to keep the weight low, the company used thermoplastic for the new body parts.
For the Scirocco, the company developed an aerodynamic kit that includes a new, TUV-certified front spoiler, subtly redesigned sidesills with grille elements built in at the rear, and a rear bumper extension with diffuser and mesh. At the back is a new TUV-certified roof spoiler. All of
Ever experience pouring diesel into your petrol powered car or pouring petrol into your diesel powered car? If you have then you would know that it is an expensive mistake that may cost you an arm and a leg if you started the engine and let it run or the slightly cheaper option of towing your car to the nearest workshop and draining your car's fuel tank of the wrong fuel. If you haven't experienced it, all the better for you. Anyway, the folks at Audi have taken a proactive step and have decide
BMW has released the first teaser video of the hotly-anticipated 1 Series M Coupe. No details about the powertrain or performance specs have been revealed, though in the video M boss Kay Segler leaves no doubt that the 1-Series M Coupe will be a powerful machine that will give its driver "the goose pimples".
The video shots suggest that the 1 Series M model will get the usual "M treatment" with extended wheel arches and a bodykit with unique bumpers and side skirts. According to Segler, the
The Fiat 500 has, in my opinion, gone full circle. Very recently Fiat officially revealed the new 500 and 500c (cabriolet) with the 'Twin Air' 900cc turbocharged 2 cylinder lawnmower engine. The little Fiat is set to hit showrooms in Europe in September of this year and was basically made to work within the European CO2 emissions tax system that is used over there for cars. The new 2 cylinder engine has the same amount of cylinders like the 'original' 500 Nuova launched in 1957. Those days the 5
BMW has officially ended production of the E60 BMW M5 after five years of production. 20,548 units of the fourth-generation M5 were assembled during this time, the majority of which were saloons. Only 1,025 BMW M5 Touring units were built since the five-door's release in 2007.
The E60 M5 featured a 5.0-liter V10 petrol engine that delivers 509 horsepower, and up to 520Nm of torque. Mated to either a seven-speed SMG or six-speed manual transmission, the car was capable of a 0-100 km/h time
Spyker has its sights set firmly on the blooming Chinese auto market. According to a report from the China Car Times, the company plans to produce and market a road-legal version of its GT2 racer just for the People's Republic.
Supposedly, the car will be both longer and wider, and will feature a host of creature comforts to help bridge the gap between the racetrack and public streets. The car is set to be launched in October of this year and this means that development of the vehicle must b
