Two months ago, Discovery Channel show a documentary on Indian workers working at a shipyard in Chittagon (maybe wrong speling) and their staying quarters are far more worst than Singapore. Those workers risk their lives by cutting down old/disused containers ships into scrapemetal for 16hrs a day and only paid US$2/- a day........ [grin]

No proper dry-dock to work on but on muddy sea bed at low tide. No machines to drag the scrapemetal but pure manpower (20 persons) pulling the cutted metal to higher ground for further beakdown of the scrapemetal. [sweatdrop]

Further back few months, another documentary on a Rick-shaw puller life. Although working in the capital, he hardly goes home in 3 yrs to his family until he recevied a letter that his son was down with sickness. Then he returns home with the group of photographers given permission from him to follow to complete the documentary. In the end, the producer and workers paid for the medical fee of his son.

The garment factory collapse incident in their own country already expose a lot of their working and living condition.

Why i overestimate........because i see them as human!

Humans are only human when they are educated with proper upbringing and social etiquette. Do you think a caveman 2million years ago is considered to be a human?

Spoke with someone in the ship repair business not so long time ago.

He share with me his experience over at China.

Workers are not being paid wages but with a bowl of porridge instead.

2 million yrs ago are not human....they are neantherthal...different species. Even the fw is speaking out against the riot! same education level and maybe same background but different thinking. A large group in the same boat but have different perspective..... Edited by Eviilusion

I heard from some suppliers, were told to remove all alcohol from a supermarket in City Square Mall, because the supermarket received notice for to total alcohol ban.

But if I am going to buy grocery this weekend there, I will definitely not able to buy any wine for my dinner.

Wouldn't it be better to just ban foreigner workers holding work permit than cause inconvenience to grocery shoppers there?

Neanderthal are often classified as a sub species of homo sapiens. Anyway, I have to agree with you that different background. Most of the rioters arrested are from southern India right? Banglas are usually more soft spoken and gentle.

i know of an incident where a group of Bangla were out drinking liquor and when reprimanded by a stall owner beat and murdered the guy. I knew the dead guy as i had bought foodstuff from his stall before. He was always complaining about the bangla who were drinking near his stall. But thats beside the point.... things have happened and it shouldnt happened again!

Come to think of it, coconut trees are a rare sight nowadays, maybe Botanical Gardens can open an area for coconut trees to add to the diversity of the plant species and folk dances, other local cultural groups can stage regular coconut tree dance competitions between fw dance teams and local teams as a way to help fws integrate into life here.

Cannot . . cannot.

Botanic Gardens got monkeys, later fight over the coconut trees how? Another riot? [laugh][lipsrsealed]
